Using quiet colours, I choose to express with fluent brushstrokes the atmosphere of a little known bit of
countryside, sometimes windswept, sometimes still.

Working from the sea as a subject, I care about pinpointing the time of day through depicting the movement of the tide and the height of the sun. The greyness of the Caithness coastline can make time seem to stand still.
